General
- The system is a fully automatic digital hard disc based system.
- It is available with 4, 8, 12 or 16 colour camera inputs.
- It can be configured to ignore unused inputs.
- There are no user controls.
- Security covers protect all connections.
- The system is able to tolerate mains power failure and automatically resumes operations when power is restored irrespective of duration of power failure.
- The system is able to supply 12V to power cameras to a maximum of 8A.
- The system status information and full system configuration is possible via a web browser on a remote computer.
- The system will keep accurate time and allow automatic adjustment of date and time from an external network time server.
- The system detects loss of signal from a camera, due to cut cable or power loss.
- When the systems detects loss of signal from a camera or detects motion it can notify users by playing a selectable sound or sending an email.
- A modem is available as a factory fitted option allowing a direct connection via a telephone line from any computer with a modem using standard dial-up networking.
- The system can provide multiplexed live views, providing a signal suitable for a computer monitor or optionally composite video suitable for a TV.
Recording Video
- All cameras may be labeled and this information, along with date and time, will be viewed and recorded with the images.
- The system features movement detection to trigger recording.
- The movement detection threshold and the noise threshold are adjustable.
- Movement masking allows the system to ignore motion in parts of the image.
- To comply with data protection policy the length of time that recordings are held on the system is configurable.
- The standard internal hard drive will allow approximately 400 hours of recording.
- Multiple disk configurations and larger capacity disks are supported.
- If the hard disk becomes full recordings are automatically deleted - oldest first.
Viewing Video
- Recordings are kept in a standard file format to allow viewing on any modern standard PC.
- All recordings are organised to make finding a specific incident easy.
- Immediate snapshots of the attached cameras, and live action views are available via a network connection.
- The frame rate of live action views is configurable to overcome potential bandwidth constraints
- Separate screens optimised for viewing on a PDA are provided.
Security
- Remote access to the system via a LAN or the Internet is provided.
- Communication with the system uses standard Internet protocols that can be accessed from behind firewalls and proxy servers.
- The system has a built-in firewall which prohibits access to network ports that are not required for the system to operate.
- All network communication with the system is encrypted and password protected.
- The system provides a log of all changes to system settings and all recordings downloaded.
- Various levels of access are provided to prevent unauthorised access to the various parts of the system.
- The system allows verification that recordings have not been tampered with.
- Network parameters, such as IP address, gateway, etc are configurable.
- The system can notify users of motion detected or signal loss by sending an email or playing a pre-selected sound via optional loudspeakers.
