Overview
This product was conceived after lengthy discussions and brainstorming sessions with installation professionals from the security industry. Together we identified the shortcomings of currently available digital CCTV recording equipment and were able to improve on current limitations.
We determined that what is required is a system which is totally automatic and will record events without any operator involvement.
We have created what we call black box technology which is secure and easy to install. Once installed the system operates completely automatically. Camera images are only recorded if movement is detected.
There are no tapes to change or logs to keep. Operator involvement is only necessary to view or create a hard copy of incidents which require investigation.
Access to the system is via a web browser on a remote computer, via a network connection. This could be
- A single computer directly connected to the system
- Multiple computers connected via hub.
- Via the Internet over a broadband connection.
- Even via a PDA and a mobile phone.
A modem is available as a factory fitted option. This allows a direct connection via a telephone line from any computer with a modem using standard dial-up networking.
All features are available via a web browser and include viewing current snapshots, viewing live video and downloading recordings which could then be permanently stored on CD.
Multiplexed live images are provided for display on a monitor or optionally a TV. The images displayed on this output are fully configurable.
The enclosure looks nothing like a conventional VCR. All connections are hidden by a security cover. There are no user controls - not even a power switch. It can be screwed to a wall or shelf, it does not need to be easily accessible.
All these features add to the security of the installation as any intruder would not recognise this unit as a video recorder.
A CCTV System must tolerate a power failure and restart automatically when power returns. A UPS (uninterruptable power supply) is not sufficient as these are usually battery based, are expensive, require maintenance and provide backup for a limited period only.
